Hagen Hübel

With over 30 years of experience in software development, I bring a wealth of knowledge from various sectors, including AI/Machine Learning, FinTech, Blockchain, and formerly eCommerce. My journey in this field began around 1989 when I was 14, and by the age of 15, I had already sold my first app.

Over the years, I’ve transitioned into leadership roles, with a well-rounded decade serving as a Chief Technology Officer (CTO). In addition to technical expertise, I possess extensive experience in start-up environments, demonstrating my entrepreneurial acumen by co-founding several fintech, AI-tech, and ed-tech startups, one of which has successfully exited. My background positions me uniquely at the intersection of deep technical understanding and business leadership, specializing particularly in the ever-evolving landscapes of AI, FinTech and Blockchain.

In recent years, I’ve expanded into AI and Machine Learning, building production systems that leverage Large Language Models (LLMs), RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation), vector databases (pgvector), and semantic search. I’ve developed AI-driven platforms for automated news generation and location intelligence, combining traditional backend expertise with cutting-edge AI technologies to solve real-world problems at scale.

My passion for backend development, SmartContracts, and AI systems is demonstrated by my active contributions to OpenSource projects, my six-year tenure in the Blockchain industry, and two years building AI-powered platforms. This is complemented by five years of experience in mobile development.

In previous roles as a team and developer lead, I honed my abilities to build, inspire, and drive high-performing teams. In addition to my technical skills, I have engaged directly with lawyers on issues of compliance and European regulation within the blockchain and financial sectors, emphasizing my comprehensive understanding of this industry’s legal framework.
